CHEER SF Volunteer Manager

Job Description

Organization: CHEER San Francisco (CSF), aka: CHEER SF
Reports to: CHEER SF Operations
 Director
Term: 2 years in role; eligible to renew terms

Organization Profile

Since 1980 CHEER San Francisco has worked to entertain, inspire and activate audiences while improving the lives of
people living with life-challenging conditions in the LGBTQ+ community and beyond. As the world’s first LGBTQ-identified
cheerleading team—and the Official Cheer Team of the City and County of San Francisco—CHEER San Francisco is an
adult, all-volunteer team that performs as a means of raising spirits, awareness and funds in support of local charities
while building a collaborative and inclusive community.

Position Overview

As an all-volunteer organization, we depend on the ongoing commitment and engagement of many like-minded
individuals to keep our programs thriving. Our Volunteer Manager ensures the volunteer experience is a stellar one:
facilitating recruitment, onboarding, and coordination of all volunteers across the organization.

A relentless advocate for our mission, the Volunteer Manager is a key part of all our volunteers’ experience with the
team. Partnering with CHEER SF Leadership, they work to develop and execute the organization’s recruitment
strategy—attracting and pairing interested individuals from the community with opportunities in our programs. They
help introduce new volunteers to CHEER SF, manage any required paperwork and records, and oversee volunteer
tracking throughout the program year. They are a primary contact for community members, businesses, and other
organizations looking to participate in our mission through volunteerism.

The Volunteer Manager role is a volunteer position and reports to the CHEER SF Operations Director.

Primary Responsibilities

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Manage volunteer attendance records and update Leadership on outliers as needed

  • Keep volunteer information organized and up to date (Google Workspace)

Qualifications

This is an opportunity for an energetic, detail-oriented, and mission-driven individual—a true cheerleader at heart
looking to help the organization make an impact in the community.

  • Passion for serving the LGBTQ+ community

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Creativity and willingness to experiment

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Organized, creative and self-motivated in developing and pursuing goals

  • Experience with Google Workspace tools—or a willingness to learn

  • Passionate about our mission and about helping grow and develop a dynamic non-profit organization

  • Previous experience as a volunteer of CHEER San Francisco is not required, but an in-depth understanding of the
organization and the community in which it operates is essential for a successful candidate
