Organization: CHEER San Francisco (CSF), aka: CHEER SF
Reports to: CHEER SF Executive Director
Term: 2 years in role; eligible to renew terms

Organization Profile

Since 1980 CHEER San Francisco has worked to entertain, inspire and activate audiences while improving the lives of
people living with life-challenging conditions in the LGBTQ+ community and beyond. As the world’s first LGBTQ-identified
cheerleading team—and the Official Cheer Team of the City and County of San Francisco—CHEER San Francisco is an
adult, all-volunteer team that performs as a means of raising spirits, awareness and funds in support of local charities
while building a collaborative and inclusive community.

 

Position Overview

The Operations Director is responsible for the day-today mechanics of the CHEER SF program, in partnership with the
Business and Volunteer Managers who report to them. It is their responsibility to ensure that program needs are met
and operations run efficiently—overseeing all administration and finance operations. They oversee and cultivate a strong
team to manage operations, enhance internal processes and maximize the impact of the program.

 

The Operations Director role is a volunteer position and reports to the CHEER SF Executive Director.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Oversees day-to-day mechanics of the program, in collaboration with Business and Volunteer Managers

  • Partners with CSF Executive Director and CSF Leadership to ensure all program needs are met

  • Responsible for program policy, contracts, and legal documents (incl. handbook, waivers)

  • Manages systems administration and all equipment procurement/maintenance

  • Partners with Business Manager to provide financial oversight, maximize fundraising, and reduce costs

  • Manages key vendor relationships (e.g. Varsity, Parade and Festival producers, etc.)

  • Ensures budget and fundraising targets are reviewed and discussed with CFL and CSF Leadership regularly

  • Passion for serving the LGBTQ+ community

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Organized, creative and self-motivated in developing and pursuing goals

  • Detail-oriented and business-minded, with an appetite to take responsibility

  • Experience with Google Workspace and Quickbooks accounting tools—or a willingness to learn

  • Passionate about our mission and about helping grow and develop a dynamic non-profit organization

  • Previous experience as a volunteer of CHEER San Francisco is not required, but an in-depth understanding of the
    organization and the community in which it operates is essential for a successful candidate
