Organization: CHEER San Francisco (CSF), aka: CHEER SF
Reports to: CHEER SF Executive Director
Term: 2 years in role; eligible to renew terms

Organization Profile

Since 1980 CHEER San Francisco has worked to entertain, inspire and activate audiences while improving the lives of
people living with life-challenging conditions in the LGBTQ+ community and beyond. As the world’s first LGBTQ-identified
cheerleading team—and the Official Cheer Team of the City and County of San Francisco—CHEER San Francisco is an
adult, all-volunteer team that performs as a means of raising spirits, awareness and funds in support of local charities
while building a collaborative and inclusive community.

 

Position Overview

The Brand Director is responsible for all communications, marketing, and partnerships for CHEER SF. Their initiative,
management, and vision helps guide our external presence—identifying opportunities to share our story while ensuring
consistency in the myriad ways we are represented in the community. In close partnership with the CSF Executive
Director, they oversee and cultivate a strong team to manage media and partnerships across the program, seeking
opportunities to share our story with an audience both local and global.

 

The Brand Director role is a volunteer position and reports to the CHEER SF Executive Director.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Oversees all external communications, marketing, and partnerships for CHEER SF

  • Guides Marketing and Community Relations teams, driving consistency and maximizing opportunity

  • Collaborates with CSF Events team and others in Leadership to identify ways to enhance program activities

  • Develops standard copy and assets libraries, educating the organization on their use

  • Seeks out opportunities for the organization to increase visibility and establish new partners

  • Acts as the primary public relations contact and spokesperson for the organization

looking to help the organization make an impact in the community.

  • Passion for serving the LGBTQ+ community

  • Organized, creative and self-motivated in developing and pursuing goals

  • Empathetic, attune and composed—a collaborative and inclusive leader

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort with public speaking

  • Ability to craft messaging to represent the organization and its mission both internally and externally

  • Comfort with various forms of public relations, corporate communications and media—and willing to learn more

  • Previous experience as a volunteer of CHEER San Francisco is not required, but an in-depth understanding of the
    organization and the community in which it operates is essential for a successful candidate
