We begin our performance/fundraising year at the end of July following tryouts.
Returning volunteers get to know new teammates during a three-day college
cheerleading camp in Southern California. Some of our volunteers are college
age like most campers, but most people with CHEER SF range in age from their
mid-20s to mid-40s.
Skills and routines are developed for performances year round at structured,
challenging and fun Tuesday night practices. Volunteers head to practice from
jobs ranging from teachers, nurses and lawyers to retail managers, computer
programmers, counselors and every other type of profession.
The team works together to develop cutting-edge cheerleading routines for
annual events like the SF Italian Heritage Day Parade in the fall, Cal basketball
games in the winter and pride festivals and parades in spring and summer.
Throughout the year CHEER SF enjoys the challenge of preparing for corporate
events, fundraisers, parties and more. When we are called upon to perform
and fundraise we love to answer the call!
At the end of the year in late June the team celebrates with a special awards
night where over $100,000 has been given away to over 40 charities during
the past few years.
Our CHEER FOR LIFE efforts year-round is a labor of love that we embrace and
cherish.
